Parkchester Parking
UPDATE: We began assigning Parking Permits on May 4, 2010 and sending Parking Permits by email on May 8, 2010. We have developed over 300 parking spaces and have been able to accommodate all those who have requested parking as of May 4th at 6:30 PM in the areas that were requested. As of May 12, 2010 at 7:05 PM we no longer have any parking spaces available on Parkchester or Church property. However, there should be parking spaces at the commercial areas listed below. Parkchester Road has been designated for Handicap and VIP parking and will be closed except for those with drop off permits. Drop off permits will be sent by email.. East Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic and will be the site for food vendors.
If you requested parking at both St. Raymond's AND St. Helena's we assumed this was in error and disregarded the request. If you requested handicap parking AND parking in St. Raymond's or St. Helena's, we considered your handicap parking request first and assigned you to Parkchester Road since it is closest to the main events. If you wish to make a change, please select Email To Parkchester above.
Public Safety Officers will have a list of those permitted to park in the areas assigned. Please honor these assignments and do not attempt to park in an area to which you were not assigned.
We have updated our maps to reflect the addition of St. Raymond's School as a parking area.
Parking areas will open at 9:30 AM. The South Oval will be set up with tables and chairs under tents and will be open from 9:30 AM until 5:00 PM.
There will be a $10.00 fee for parking. All parking spaces will be assigned to reunion registrants that have registered for parking at this website and have been assigned a parking field area and a parking permit identification number. The permits will be issued on a first come, first served.
Parkchester 70th Reunion guests may not park in areas that require Parkchester residential permits issued by our Public Safety Departments.
Obtaining An Event Parking Permit:
- Find and select your registration name and identification number on the Parking Permit Request above. You must have registered for the reunion in order to be issued a Parking Permit and you must have given us permission to display your information on the website. The list is in alphabetical order by your last name. If you want to change your display permission, select Email To Parkchester above and give us your last name, first name and email address from your registration clearly stating you are changing your permission.
- Complete the online application for a Parking Permit. Please answer all of the questions you can. Your email address is your validation key. The email used at the time of registration must match the email you include on the form.
- View your application on the Permit Status View page. Entries are listed numerically by order of submission -- Parking ID.
- It will take at least 24 hours to validate your submission by comparing email addresses and trying to determine if we have sufficient spaces. Once validated the permit status will be changed from "Pending" to "Confirmed".
- On or before the first week of May your actual parking area assignment will be listed on the website. Our online system will help us to identify who will be driving to Parkchester and needs parking versus those who have made other transportation arrangements.
- Please do not submit more than one application for a Parking Permit. Doing so will cause confusion and may place your entry further down on the list. If you wish to cancel or modify your request for parking, please email us by selecting Email To Parkchester from the menu (reunion@parkchester.org). Due to limited parking spaces, only one Parking Permit will be issued per family.
- UPDATE: Your actual All Day Reunion Parking Permit will be issued by email. You will place the permit on your vehicle dashboard. You may park from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- We have a limited number of handicap spaces and we will issue passenger drop off passes at your request for Parkchester Road, near the main events, regardless of whether you receive or need a parking permit.

Many of the same garages you may remember from your days at Parkchester are still operating although as independent operations. The Unionport Garage will have very few spaces but you may fare better at the Archer Road Garage and East Tremont Garage. Additionally, there is a commercial lot across from 2000 East Tremont Avenue, our main office.
Driving Directions - Getting Around
We've provided maps showing the location of the events and parking areas. We assume you will park first and then walk to the venues so we have provided the addresses to the parking areas. You should use these addresses for your in-car navigation systems or programs such as Google Maps or MapQuest.
Subway & Buses
Those of you staying at a hotel in New York may prefer to leave your car and take the No. 6 train to the Parkchester station or any of the buses that traverse through Parkchester. Select the Subway and Bus menu item to get to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority website for maps and directions. The MTA website also has a menu link to keep you informed about diversions. We have learned through the local media that the north bound side of the Parkchester train station will be bypassed during non-peak hours by the No. 6 train for station repair in May. You may choose to bypass the Parkchester station, get of at Castle Hill and take a South bound train back to the Parkchester station. You may also get off at Castle Hill and take the Bx 22 bus to Metropolitan Oval. The South Bound train out of Parkchester is not scheduled to be impacted by this work.
Food and Beverages
You won't have to travel to Manhattan for a Street Festival. We'll be having our own on East Avenue. East Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic on May 15th and food vendors that travel to the many Street Festivals in the NYC will be ready and able to serve you.
Rest Areas
There will be portable rest area stations situated near the main venues at both the South and Metropolitan Ovals. There should also be facilities in the Theater and at some of the more user friendly restaurants in Parkchester such as Burger King and the new Met Oval restaurant both between Metropolitan Oval and East Avenue.
